Many dental offices across the country, including McCue Dental Health, have now reopened and are accepting patients. But is it safe to see the dentist during the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak? The answer is “yes.” Read on, and see how the team at McCue Dental Health is adjusting to the “new normal,” and keeping our staff and patients safe.
Enhanced Social Distancing Precautions
First, we’ve implemented a few new procedures for patients. You’ll need to call our office when you arrive for your appointment with Dr. McCue, and stay in your car until we call you and tell you to come up for your visit.
If possible, we ask that you come alone without family members to your appointment. We are also offering fewer appointments per day in an effort to maintain distancing, minimize the number of people in our office at once, and ensure that our staff members have time to thoroughly clean and disinfect operating areas between each patient.
We also ask that you wear a mask or face covering and use hand sanitizer at our front desk upon entry. You will also need to fill out a quick COVID-19 screening questionnaire and get a temperature check before you can go back to our treatment areas.
All staff at our office also undergo temperature checks and to ensure that they are healthy and free of any potentially infectious illness.
Advanced HEPA Filtration In Common Spaces & Operatories
We have added Medical Grade HEPA Filtration to all of our treatment rooms and common areas to help protect patients and staff. These filters catch and filter more than 99.97% of harmful particles, including common viruses and microbes. This helps give you peace of mind, and ensures that you and our staff members are all breathing clean, healthy air at McCue Dental Health.
Additional PPE For All Team Members
Our front-office staff will be wearing masks for your safety, and our dental team members will wear PPE including N95 masks, face shields, gowns, and additional coverings like head coverings and shoe coverings for some appointments.
All used PPE will be left in the operatory where it was used for proper disposal, minimizing the risk of cross-contamination. Single-use items will be thrown away, while reusable PPE will be safely transported to be disinfected and sanitized for reuse.
Enhanced Cleaning Of Common Spaces
We are taking steps to clean common spaces including our waiting room, bathroom, counters, door knobs, and other surfaces more frequently with EPA-registered disinfectant products. We have also removed hard-to-sanitize items like magazines, pamphlets, and children’s toys from our waiting area to minimize infection risk.
